What to Expect

Kristen bring years of experience right to your home or office. She will be asking lots of questions because she wants your space to represent your style needs whether for your home or business!

The initial appointment typically lasts about an hour. Larger projects may require more than one appointment. If you decide to work together Kristen will take photos and video, and measure the space during the design appointment. If there are multiple areas to be measured, she may return another day.

Kristen will request a full house tour and you should mention other problem areas. She may ask to see your closet to get an idea of the colors and patterns you wear. This is a time to get to know each other and decide how to move forward.

Discussing the budget for your home decoration is vital beause Kristen needs to understand how she can work with you best.

Investment

People are often shy to discuss how much they want to invest in a decorating project but for both parties it is by far one of the most important aspects of your initial consultation. You may not know how much things cost and we can work with you to determine a budget that accomplishes your overall project goals.

You may choose to work on one room at a time or the entire home. The investment in your home or business will determine the furnishing and finishes your interior designer can include in the project. We have to the trade only pieces, custom upholstery and custom drapery. We also have relationships with American craftsman for custom furniture, and imported furniture too.

If you are building a new home let Kristen Stein help with the basic choices then allow her to design and order your furnishings while the home is built so you are ready for closing day.

Design & Decoration

Every project presents its own unique set of circumstances. Stein Design Team prides themselves on working side by side with you to accomplish your design vision. Kristen will discuss the specifics of your project, help determine the investment level and make some preliminary design suggestions.

Depending on the size of the project there may be several appointments on site and at the studio where your design team will be planning and making selections in preparation for your design presentation.

Behind the Scenes

Once the design plan is complete, Decorating Den Interiors starts ordering fabric, rugs, furniture, wall coverings and drapery from multiple vendors nationally and internationally. The design team will keep you informed of their progress and how the project is developing.

As your products are ordered from a wide range of vendors, items arrive individually and are stored together safely until everything arrives. Some things may arrive within weeks, custom items may take several months depending on fabric availability and production schedules.

Leave home in the morning and come back to a magic reveal - just like on television.

The Final Reveal

If you are having major renovations, you will see the majority of work being done beforehand. But if you are having a room decorated, you can look forward to a huge surprise.

You’ve waited patiently for installation day, surely the most exciting day for both you and your designer! It is advisable to leave the design team alone in your home to supervise the sub-contractors who will install window treatments and hang light fixtures.

If you are having paint and wallpaper installed, that may happen earlier to avoid paint spills or glue on your new custom furniture. Kristen will call you to return home when everything is perfect. There is nothing nicer than having left your home in the morning then returning later to see the final reveal. Enjoy your new space — hiring an interior designer is worth every cent!
